Wireless Headsets

Wireless headsets are headphones that lack a physical connection to the mother device using a cable, instead using infrared or Bluetooth. Here, infrared or radio waves receive signals from the source. All one needs to do is connect the headset to the device and attach them to their ears. Wireless headsets have rapidly grown in popularity since they first appeared on the market.

Headsets that use infrared rays are limited to a range of 30 feet. Cordless headphones that use radio waves need to be adjusted in frequency with the mother device to avoid interference. These operate using a larger frequency of up to 2.4 GHz, which extends their useable range to a maximum of 300 feet. Most modern varieties come with advanced features that include noise cancelling.

Digitally enhanced cordless telecommunication headsets are mostly used for cordless phones, with the most common DECT profile being the generic access profile (GAP). Due to the uniform profile, different manufacturers have developed devices that are compatible with other GAP-enabled gadgets. As such, anyone with the headset can pair it to their phone and use it instead of the conventional receiver.

Bluetooth headsets are quite common, and operate on a 2.4 GHz frequency specifically designed for low power usage. As such, its transmission range is reduced. There are also base stations that connect the phone to a computer and a Bluetooth headset, thus allowing the use of a single pair of headphones for both devices.

Benefits of Wireless Headsets

The lack of a wire running from the device to the user’s head is greatly beneficial. One can move freely as they communicate, besides attending to other tasks in this period. It’s even possible to respond to emails via the use of voice recognition technology.

The mobility factor also enhances flexibility. Instead of remaining trapped on the desk, it’s possible for one to walk around, stretch one’s legs or even lie down while communicating. This is especially great for people who’re concerned about their fitness and health.

Most modern headphones come with a USB plugin design in place of the traditional phone cord. This is great for those switching to VoIP. In addition, one can also use the cordless headset while gaming. Wireless headphones are also easier to carry around; the absence of wires eliminates the risk of tangling, which can be both a nuisance and cause of damage.

The noise-cancelling feature helps make communications audible and clear. Even in a noisy environment, both parties are still able to give off and receive messages. Background noises could greatly hinder business communiqué, which makes this feature absolutely essential.
Wireless headsets offer similar functionality to a conventional phone. However, they offer numerous benefits, as mentioned above. As such, productivity is greatly enhanced when one switches to these devices.
